Know what's great? Talkin to Mimi online :D

(BACK UP: Actually, great weather, a bit of chill-time and candid convo's with caroline, shopping and drivin' in this fine weather, a good law and order episode whilst working, gettin paid to lookat Jack McCoy, and then a fine dinner with a serving of Adium-Chat-with-Mimi-about-meeting-up-in-Europe-this-summer-to-go-to-Poland-and-Greece is hella yummy and hella great*)

We have these plans for a major tour of iceland (monty python quote...never mind it)
Actually it has nothing to do with Iceland. I will meet up with her, hopefully in Poland shortly after I arrive in Europe and chill with her en route to such amazing places as Greece and Montenegro and somewhere else IDK...Budapest
Hellz yes

I love travel, hate not having money.

Last night, after my night class, I stopped by work to pick up my thermos which I had forgotten. Went home and made tea, sat with my family to watch the end of the basketball game. I really don't get basketball, it doesn't interest me, so I decided to whip out my laptop and browse a bit.
I had promised myself I wouldn't check my University "acceptance status" because I was sick of getting all hopeful and then seeing "application still pending" but last night I did it anyways and what what...WHAT DID I FIND?!?!?

Congratulations! You have been admitted...

The rest isn't important, but check that out.

Nice right?
I did a few victory laps around the house. Now, I'm gonna go eat the breakfast of champions, an omelette.

Writing a paper about opium. Basically England, the bully of the west, decided to be a big bitch about getting all their prissy citizens (who i love) tea. "hey them chinese folks have tea...let's go get it!" so they show up expecting china to be all like *guffaawww* "look at them white peoplez withz vewwy vewwy cool clocks and guns!" and strike up a commodity-commodity trade agreement. but china wasn't impressed with the clocks and the guns, so england was forced to figure out a different way to get that tea from them li'l asians.

hurrah for the land of messed up chicklets and weird noses, the british prevailed, as always, by using brute force, a bit of intelligence and India. India makes opium, ships it over to china, china gets hooked, chinese junkies give up their tea. god save the queen.

Why am i writing this? It's all about East Meets West! China was the bad-ass of the Orient. Japan, VERY ethnocentric people that they are, even uses Chinese characters so that's proof of how widespread their influence and power was within Asia. Heck, until France came around and was all up in Vietnam's business, the Vietnamese used Chinese characters, too! Who DIDN'T? ---that doesn't play in. nevermind.

So Eastern-Badass-China has a throwdown with Western-Badass-England and England has just enough in 'em (probably because they are all caffeinated from that tea while the chinese were in a drifting, opiate-haze) to beat the senses out of China not just once (the first opium war) but twice (the second opium war) and still funnel all the opium they could into China AND get Hong Kong!!

Wow. Too bad I couldn't just hand that in as my paper.

Latest obsessions
-Scholarships : funding studying in Bonn is gonna be stressful
-Meditation: trying to get back on track as far as morning meditation goes--meehh. not so successful yet
-3 minute eggs: i love them. yum yum. that brings me to this story, though
-Writing papers: not by choice. i would much rather be doing things like, studying German, watching documentaries on Asian history and WWII, applying for scholarships (well i don't want to do this, but it will make life easier), enjoying the outdoors, working on seedlings and starting the garden for this year, watching L&O with Caroline. Oh no, instead I have to write about 15 pages worth by last week and another 8 by next week. BOOO!

Story of the day!?
I attempted my normal breakfast routine before I was fully awake today. The result? Singed arm-hair, a yolk that was too cooked on my egg (NOT RUNNY = NOT GOOD!), and I boiled away all the water in my teapot making her very angry at me. She's kinda brown/blackish all over the bottom 1/4th right now. Bollocks.

I'm gonna eat some fuckin' cheerios.

--that was sort of satisfying....

Other updates:
-got my passport back with "new and improved" pages. that stemmed some passport-related discussions and we looked at my parents and all the kids old passports. wow...things have changed.
-today I buy my ticket to Germany for my "bonn adventure"
i think i will call it BonnVoyage :D

Lesson(s) of the Day:
-Don't bite off more than you can chew.
-Be happy with your beautiful body.
-Listen.

Gosh. I had a great weekend. Even though I hardly addressed all the bad stuff that was going on in my life, I shook it. I feel totally great. I feel back to normal. Didn't sleep right away when I wanted to last night, but that's OK. Part of me wants to write down all sorts of little achievements and notes, part of me wants to just write a lot of goals and to do's, must do's, but writing such things is biting off more than I can chew in some regards. I won't be able to get everything done that I want to or I will put too much on the plan side of my Libra-scale and not have enough fill out onto the reality side. So, I will just keep on pluggin' along, chin down and hopes high.

I had a raindrop treatment today. Oh how fitting! Oh how timely! Oh how purifying! Kombucha, web-surfing, a phone call with a girlfriend. Candles and writing. Yaaay!

Now I will set this one goal, I have to drink a lot of water in the next few days. A ridiculous amount to be precise. I have got to, it's an essential part of post-massage care. ^^

The price for the plane ticket to Brasil has fallen with the decrease in gas prices. I must look into all that tomorrow.

Dreads: I love you. You are beautiful. You can be classy. You say so much for me, and given how much of a talker I am, that's quite convenient that I don't have to say so much. At the same time you are deceiving. You are my mischievous Siamese twin that is always there with me, always there at every first impression to make people thing certain things...

We need a national ID card. Normally, Americans wait until their first trip abroad, though now that Passports are required to enter Canada and Mexico so more people are getting passports and possibly earlier, or they wait until they get their driver's license. Now most nations have national ID cards. Why can't we get them?

Willst du ein "Komplettes" Musiksammelung haben? Dann brauchst du "Dance While the Sky Crashes Down" von Jason Webley

Whilst surfing the web (Yahoo!) I found an article called 5 Reasons Why an SUV Might Make Sense for You
"A Honda Civic is a great choice if your only outdoor activity is walking to and from Starbucks."
Funny, I would have thought your legs, or a bike was a good choice for WALKING. Hmmm

Other awesome/funny things that happened today
-Got along swimmingly with the girl I nanny.
-Made dirt cups ^^
-Got my Atmosphere ticket, eventhough I had heard a terrible and false rumor that the show was sold out
-saw a man uni-cycling his dog. I was going to write walking his dog, but he wasn't!
-got to catch up with Lauren, practice Chinese and German, gave out and received a few compliments
-bought a dude named Andreas a Jimmy John's sub, gave him a few bucks to get a hot drink (or whatever he wants) and then gave two other dudes a Jimmy John's Day Old Bread loaf to split, and a fourth dude some dollars to buy something. I was running up State St., stopping to hand out stuff to homeless (I assume) and hoping I would get back to my car before my parking meter ran out
-when I got there, it had not ran out and I got to laugh at a giant SUV parked in a motor-cycle only spot that was totally NOT out of the flow of traffic. Hahahah....
-Mom fixed up one of our chickens and it smells fantastic, looking forward to a delicious, locally grown, family meal!
-I am happy!

I got new shoes last night, at Macy's.
I have a to do list, and I feel like I can actually handle it. Tonight, I have some homework, I have to submit applications for colleges, and clean. Those are big tasks, but it doesn't feel like much!
I'm using iCal to keep my to do list up to date and keep me up to date. I know this is ridiculous that I am so happy about this journaling about it, but I am focusing on the good.

"It's predestined that these cats won't get along." Mom was putting the things back in order that Captain Morgan had knocked to the floor. He was off in a flash, chasing Pebbles again.
"Destiny? What does destiny have to do with Captain and Pebbles? Captain Morgan is a playful, youthful kitten at heart, who often acts like a crack addict, attacking Pebbles, attempting to disembowel her. He has some unrequited desire to play with her and she will have none of it. She's the bratty teenage mama cat who has always wanted to be left alone. She has a streak of fury in her and it only comes out when Captain tears after her around the house. He has some infatuation with her, possibly because she can't stand him. He feels no guilt. She feels no compassion. She never did have compassion, not even for her own kittens, she let all of them but one son die. She is a bit of a beauty queen type. She is the reason we refer to spiteful people as catty. He is uber-hyper. She is pungent and caustic. He is constantly on edge. He disregards all corporeal limitations and tries to fly and soar while she is skiddish and always running low to the ground. In some twisted way does have a spiritual calmness in her, I'll give her that. He would rather give her a heart attack or any kind of attack, she would love it if we swapped out his cat nip for belladonna lilies, his water dish for some poison. ...
My mom looked up from her game of solitaire.
"Sorry, were you talking to me?"
Typical...

Today's Run Down:
Yoga Mid-term. I got "traveling eastward across the sea" which is a qi-gong move.
Home. Generally lazy and unproductive, but I did walk and do some aerobics, watched part of "Bowling for Columbine" and read a text book, both for Sociology.
Joy of Procrastination: UPS always brings reasons to procrastinate and revel in materialism. Late birthday presents came today. When I was in Taiwan, my host mom always tried to give me this expensive Himalayan salt lamp, which I loved but knew was expensive and she always gave me so much, including the best home-stay. Cindy and Carol, you saved my exchange experience. Carol gave me all sorts of great things, like the best face wash ever and taught me how to make dumplings and all sorts of delicious foods. Well, my mom got me a tea-light holder out of this salt. I want badly to also get an aromatherapy diffuser from the same salt, but that is for next year or maybe Christmas. :D
oh that reminds me...
A few days ago, my search for a delicious, soy-wax, made in the USA candle ended when I found one that was also inexpensive and comes in a nice container. The container part is crucial because I really don't allow myself to have any candles that aren't contained :p
I have had such great luck with this candle stuff lately! Two great priced soy candles, a candle in a beautiful jar that will make a classy glass someday that was 70% off and smells nice, a little bird cage style tea-light holder...Oh so much fun!

I will have such a wonderful smelling room when I move out! I am definately taking our antique hanging bird cage that I have all set up in the basement. It has it's own stand, some coffee beans and pretty rocks inside of it and a few candles. Oh yay. It's almost lame how excited I get about this stuff.

Back to UPS...My order of clothing came from a certain super-cheap online store. This breaks a goal of mine to buy either USA made or eco-friendly materials when getting more clothing. Boo hoo. What a downer. I wanted to re-order my work pants and then when I found them online, I got a dress and a skirt for Meghan's birthday celebration. Well you know how that type of stuff goes, one thing leads to another that leads to "oh heck, im 25 cents away from free shipping, so lets get a 20 dollar tunic!" The pants, the reason I ordered anything in the first place, were too small! 27 should fit me, according to the size chart, it should even be big for me, but its toooooo small so I gave them off to Caroline. She is so, so, so damned cute, classy, and awesome. Glad we are gonna be kickin' it together in stylish digs.

I was prancing around the house trying on different outfits, all the while wearing 4" T-Straps that I rarely wear. I gotta work heels more often, so I practiced for most of the afternoon. In fact my mom and I made scalloped potatoes and apple crisp, while discussing clothing and other things (quite silly, since my mom and I usually talk about other things besides clothes and boys and we have talked a fair amount about both these past few days). Both dishes were delicious and enjoyed by all, all includes Caroline on this occasion as she was guest at my home for a mini Law and Order marathon. *glee*

Well, here's to finding the ankle length cropped, black skinny pants I want in my size and budget.

Here's to learning how to say "cheers" in 25 different languages.

Here's to being in a good place in life.

Here's to not burning my house down.

Here's to world peace.

So every morning I check my horoscopes. I like to have some advice at the beginning of the day. One of them mentioned seeing an old friend and making time to connect with them. So I immediately thought of Lauren.
As German class was drawing to a close, about 10 minutes before I was planning on calling Lauren, Lauren calls to see if I wanna get coffee!
So weird.
I think that's something to do with intuition.
I have had lots of intuition moments. Right before someone told me they were pregnant, couldn't work on a certain day and wanted me to work, needed a ride, that something was wrong with a co-worker, I either got a feeling or just out of nowhere got a notion...The chick doesn't look pregnant, but I just thought to myself, whoa I wonder if ** is preggo...and sure enough!?!? Strange.

I dreamt about German class last night. We had to bring in a piece of artwork today and I dreamed that I forgot and had to then bring in three pieces of work and describe them in front of the class. Silly. I was anxious that I forgot the original piece of artwork. Hmmm...

Back to my morning horiscopes, though. I also get a Feng Shui tip. I love Feng Shui. Like saying it, like writing the characters, like the memories of learning about it in Taiwan, and meeting Wang Ama's Feng Shui master.

My tip (from Ellen Whitehurst, it should be noted) included this important little tidbit:

Many traditions hold that when you pray or 'ask' for anything that will improve life (yours or someone else's), that those words should have both a cadence and some rhyme in order for them to be both effective and activate those intentions. Today, why not explore your own empowerment and intone an affirmative adaptation from F. S. Shinn and the School of New Thought: 'The tide of destiny has turned for me today. Everything now begins to go my way.' Say this silently and aloud for nine days straight and then flow, baby, flow!

Chinese is all about fun little play on words, rhymes and so on. Mimi always had a whole bunch of great Chinese anecdotes that her host mom told her. So fun. I have tried numerous times to write poetry, to make rhymes and I am not good at it. Because I am a twit. (haha that rhymed.) I really thought this was a cool tip though.

Other things going on in my life and head...
-I am trying to focus on doing things with appropriate motivation
-this stems from not putting too much emphasis on what other people think
-Midterms this week >z<
-Flu season, to get a shot or not...I don't like medications and perscriptions. Oh that reminds me! Kombucha was on sale today at the Co-op so I bought 4 bottles! All new flavors I have yet to try. ( I think Grape is my new favorite) (Can't wait to make my own Kombucha with mom, it's on for this fall).
-To do list is mounting and becoming threatening. Good thing I have today off! Gosh, it is Columbus Day after all!
-New clothing! One new "graphic" shirt. One new pair of work pants (because my old ones are scungy. Decided to take the plunge and get a pencil skirt, I have wanted one for a couple of years now, but it takes getting over my thigh-hatin'
-I love urbandictionary.com, told a foreign exchange student about it. she finds it hilarious and helpful
That'll be all for now
xox

For the first time in a long time, I got up today, checked the Yahoo News and there was NOTHING about the Economic Crisis! How awesome is that? Now I like the news. I am considering Journalism as a profession, but I have to voice some of my complaints.
-SENSATIONALISM ANYONE!? I swear this stock market drop is 70% because of the Media freaking people out. Everyone is like, "well the Star says I need to get my stocks or the devil will!" Right folks, chill out and spend a bit of money and boost the economy. Stimulus package?
-Bad TV=Bad society. So much for wholesome shows. We need another Fresh Prince of Bel Aire, we need another Crosby Show, we need another Full House! Jeez I like a lot of the stuff on TV (Lipstick Jungle, Sex in the City, Food Network, Grey's Anatomy if I ever have time to watch them) (LOVE Law and Order) But come on, even Law and Order and CSI put strange ideas in people's minds. I wish we actually used the capacity and leisure time the Industrial Revolution provided for us (like all Romantic philosophers had intended) to improve society and become more educated.
Instead its drunk drunk drunk, bang bang bang, indulge indulge, infatuation, selfishness and tits.

My mom, I love her. She is being a real ball-buster about stuff. Geez. I ask her to let up, DON'T GIVE ME REASONS TO BE ON YOUR CASE! Living at home has its' perks and it sure has its' downfalls. Yikes

I HATE WHEN MY MOM SINGS ALONG TO MY MUSIC! I am listening to Reggae and she is singing the Saints Come Marching In.
I must be pissy today, which means she has ammo to argue with me. Oh joy.
Time to do some 'expelling unhealthy qi' and dan-tian breathing.

I got up and did some aerobics and yoga. Went outside to greet the incredible weather and wow wasn't it amazing.

Oh and the song "Womanizer" by Britney Spears...No me gusta. I don't care if she's naked in a steaming shower. Still, no me gusta. I guess I should check the lyrics to see if they say anything good. Seems really repetitive.

Gonna go journal about dreams.

Why am I so grumpy, since it's a beautiful day? Why is my mom getting on my case when I just did qi-gong outside and should be balanced, and have qi flowing and be happy?

Oh, I haven't eaten breakfast yet!

Noting: that it may be quite unlikely I marry, who knows
Proceeding: with the assumption that I will marry
Given: the man I marry may have a love for football
(oh how I miss Model UN, it's obviously been some time since I have written resolution conducted myself or a discussion with Parlimentary Procedure)
I would like to make this statement:
I dislike the 'white noise' sound of football. If I marry a dude who likes football (if it's soccer I will watch with...or rugby), I will give him his own room in the house with comfortable chairs, a beer cooler and I will make him chili on those dismal, grey, lazy sundays when football plays so that I DONT HAVE TO HEAR THAT DAMNED DIN OF FOOTBALL! The stupid announcer.s, the hum of the fans, it may be fantastic when you're at the game, but it's one more reason I always hated Sundays at my house. Dad will turn the shit on at noon, right when we got home from church and watch until he falls asleep in that chair.
Maybe I would enter that Man's Chamber upon occasion, as mom does to knit, but I doubt it.
I got shit to do.
Maybe it's making chili.

I hate the dumb ads, the country music, I espeicallly hate that "ARE YOU READY FOR SOME FOOTBAAALLLL MONDAY NIGHT FOOTbALL"
(ik thats on mondays, he can use the room any time a football game is on)
God, I hate Country music!

1 condition: no watchin pornos in that room. it will be a clean room, a shrine to football if you will, dear future-husband-existant-or-imagined.

Heute hatte ich dolle Bauchschmerzen. Hab mein Vitaminen genommen ohne was vorherr zu essen. Schlechte Idee. Na gut, jetzt ist alles besser, alles gut. Ich trink gerade Gruene Tee. Sitz im Wohnzimmer und hoer This American Life.
